Skin needling is a treatment to rejuvenate and tighten the skin. It works by causing tiny micro-punctures in the skin that create a controlled injury to the dermis, which then stimulates collagen and elastin to repair itself.

The Look

Redness like the ‘flushed face’, or ‘post-workout look’ can be experienced immediately post-treatment, along with mild puffiness depending on the indication for treatment and intensity used.

Pin-point bleeding is common, which usually subsides quickly during the treatment and has usually completely resolved by the end of the treatment.

Generalised redness subsides gradually post-treatment and takes most people two days to resolve, deeper scars or areas worked more can take longer to reduce.
Peeling is a common occurrence post-treatment starting about day 2. Some people can breakout also these are usually quick to resolve. Once the healing process has finished the skin appears healthier and has less ‘crepiness’ with every treatment. Maximal results appear from about 6 weeks to 6 months after treatment. A course of treatments, at least 6 is usually recommended to produce the most noticeable changes in texture, tone etc.

One advantage to the skin needling is that you can work around the delicate eye areas including over the eyelids without the worry of damaging the eyes as lasers can.

The Treatment

A topical anaesthetic is applied approx. 20 minutes before treatment although in some cases numbing is not necessary.

At Esq Clinic, we use the MDerma which is the new gold standard in skin needling in Australia. It creates a massive 1600 micro holes per second, 96,000 miro holes per minute!

The Science

Through this controlled wound caused from the micro punctures the body’s healing phases are activated to repair and kick-start the production of collagen and elastin for tightening and rejuvenation.
